The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is the police department of the city of Los Angeles, California. With nearly 9,900 officers and more than 3,000 civilian staff, covering an area of 473 square miles (1,230 km2) with a population of more than 3.8 million people, it is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the United States. The star honors the work done by the LAPD in making the streets of Hollywood safe for residents and visitors.
